A world that stays knowable

Much of human progress depends on our ability to leave a faithful account of what happened. Science advances because results can be tested. Institutions endure because decisions can be examined after the people and circumstances have changed. A record allows knowledge to survive the moment that produced it.

The agent economy begins when software moves beyond producing answers and starts acting in the world. Agents pursue goals, use tools and coordinate work across systems on which people depend. Their actions can travel farther and faster than any one person can follow.

The agent economy is arriving under competition between companies and states. No one can assume others will wait. An agent has already crossed from a controlled evaluation into production infrastructure and taken thousands of actions beyond the test it was meant to complete. We are still at the beginning. As agents are given more authority, the consequences of actions we cannot reconstruct will reach further into human life.

An agent can produce a coherent account of its own actions and still be wrong. An explanation is a claim about the past; a record carries evidence from it. Once that evidence has been lost, no later account can restore what happened. Reconstruction depends on a record made while the action is taking place.

When an agent fails, the evidence needed to understand it should survive. A record the agent can reach is a record the agent can shape.

A person remaining somewhere in the workflow is not the same as human agency. People need evidence to understand an action that affected them, challenge its consequences and decide what follows. Without that evidence, human review becomes approval of an account the machine has written for itself.

Arkna has chosen this as its work. We are building durable records of machine action and investing in the people and methods needed to make those records useful in practice. We want the ability to examine machine action to outlast the technologies and companies of the moment.
